Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W â Ultra Compact Desktop Laser Printer
The PagePro series from Konica Minolta was a line of printers designed to bring laser print quality to the desktop, and the brand succeeded in churning out monochrome laser units that were impressively compact. The Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W offers users great, true print resolution and decent print speeds at a relatively affordable price, making the printer a great choice for those looking for a personal laser machine.
Advertised print speed for the Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W is stated at 21 pages per minute, though actual real world speeds are significantly slower. The unit's first page out time of 13 seconds is a bit sluggish, but acceptable considering the scope of the device. Built in RAM ranks at 8 MBs, and is not expandable whatsoever, which can be disappointing for buyers who intend on using the printer for large imagery and complex printing tasks.
The printer is designed for use with Windows based systems, but, via a built in USB port, could probably be coaxed into running on a Macintosh. A Parallel port is also included, but no Ethernet connection. Print resolution for the Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W rests at a comfortable true quality of 1200 x 1200 dots per inch. While many printers rely on heavy resolution enhancement to reach 1200 dpi, models in the PagePro line have unenhanced imagery, providing for perfect, high quality results every time.
Unlike the previous model in the series, the Konica Minolta PagePro 1250W, the 1350W does not leave a paper storage expansion option open, and includes only a limited 150 sheet tray. In fact, the Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W has no expandability options whatsoever, and what you see in the box is what you get. It also has a very limiting maximum monthly duty cycle of 15,000 pages, which means that high volume printing is out of the question.
The Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W has one of the smallest footprints of a laser printer of this magnitude. With a width of 15 inches and a depth of 11.5 inches, the unit takes up very little desktop space. It also stands at a height of only 11.1 inches, making it easy to squeeze underneath ones desk, while its weight of only 17 pounds makes it maneuverable.
Maximum page size can be both legal or A4, as both are compatible with the document feeder. Other viable paper type options include labels, envelopes, recycled paper, and transparencies. The unit's output tray only holds up to 100 sheets but, for such a light volume unit, this should be more than enough. A built in Naltec N1 48 MHz processor keeps speeds moving at an optimal pace, while a limited warranty from Konica ensures a long product life.
The unit's power consumption of 400 watts is a little intense by today's standards, but its standby mode of only 15 watts helps to keep energy costs down. While the Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W is not the most powerful unit on the market, it should make desktop users happy.
