We're moving towards the future of the auto industry, so it's important to weigh all parts of the car and progress as needed. Barrington Lexus drivers aren't the only ones to experience the LED lighting revolution. Developed by Nick Holonyak Jr. in 1962, a light-emitting diode functions as a semiconductor light source. Early LED designs featured a low-intensity red light, but newer versions are upgraded to include visible, ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths at very high brightness levels. While the primary use of LEDs has thus far been in indicator lights like turn signals and brake lights, we're seeing more and more LED technologies appearing in traffic lights and headlamps. Adding some LED headlights to a Lexus will surely add a little more style and finesse to anyone's ride while offering some extra safety in the way of nighttime driving. Beyond night driving, the LED headlamps are instrumental for powering through rain, snow and fog with ease and grace. No hole drilling necessary, leaving your Lexus looking pristine and factory-fresh. Dimming options give drivers the flexibility they need for any type of driving. At a time when the industry is in desperate peril, Lexus has been doing its part to spur on the changing dynamic of the automotive market. You could imagine luxury manufacturers wouldn't be very prone to change, especially when they've built their reputations on power-driven platforms and, sometimes, larger cars like SUVs. But Lexus has been doing its part to contribute to the fuel efficiency revolution by developing and sharing hybrid platforms with its parent brand Toyota, one of the outspoken leaders in the fuel economy progression.
