How To Install Surround System For Best Sound
If you are a novice in this field then a few points should be remembered before starting to install surround system: Kinds of tools and parts needed, rooms where the surround speakers are to be installed, lastly type of system and aesthetics.
The basic tools used for the installation are screwdrivers, cordless power drill, and razor knife, framing hammer, wire cutters or stripers, drywall keyhole saw, wire coat hangers, Led Headlamp, flashlight, wood chisel, voltmeter. Parts needed are single/double gang low voltage, decor-style wall plates, plenty of impact acoustics, and nail in cable clips.
Next step is to match the surround system with the number of rooms, their sizes, style, ceiling height, and general acoustics. If the volume of the room is big then a small 8 inch subwoofer found in home theatre-in-a-box will not give the best sound effect. Two subwoofers can be used for every style of room no matter if you are using a satellite system or a full blown floor standing system. This is so because dual woofers smooth out low frequency responses. Therefore the surround system not only gives a brilliant bass effect but you can actually enjoy your listening experience.
Type of ceilings is also very important as ceiling mounted speakers are not encouraged for vaulted or sloping ceilings. High ceilings can make the sound lively and spacious. If a room has a lot of glass and hard surface then it will result into a very high reflective room which means that the output will sound to be very loud. To avoid this one can use fabric curtains on glass windows and put rugs on the floor. Subwoofers should be kept along the wall if your room is square in shape.
To achieve the best sound always position the left and right speakers so as to form an equilateral triangle, rear speakers can be kept behind the viewing area. All speakers should be kept away from the walls and corners. The centre channel speaker should be kept close to the TV. One can try out different places for the subwoofer so as to get tighter sounding bass.
Rectangle room with a short wall for TV and stereo equipment can produce good sound. It is great if the speakers can be studded in the wall or ceiling. If the surround system is installed keeping these tips in mind then one is definite to experience the envy of neighbors.
